Kudostu – Frequently Asked Questions – FAQ
Ordering & Payments
Simply browse our selection of premium yarns and accessories, add the items you wish to your shopping cart, and proceed to checkout. Before you finalize the purchase, you can review your order, shipping address and payment method. Once you confirm payment, you will receive an order confirmation email and your order is binding at that point.
At Kudostu you can pay using major credit/debit cards (Visa, MasterCard) and by using various local and international payment methods. Payments are securely handled through our payment processor.
Unfortunately, we are unable to add additional products to an order once it has been placed. If you would like to purchase additional items, please place a new order through our online store.
No. You can check out as a guest if preferred, although creating an account will let you view past orders and save your shipping details for future purchases.
Yes. If you have a valid discount or promotional code, enter it at checkout in the designated field. The code must be entered before payment is completed. Only one code may typically be used per order and codes may have terms (such as minimum spend or are valid for specific products only).
Shipping & Tracking
Orders from Kudostu are usually dispatched from our warehouse in Helsinki within 48 hours (excluding weekends).
We deliver across the EU. You can find our shipping costs here: Shipping & Delivery Information. If a promotion offers free shipping (for example a threshold amount), this will be clearly communicated.
Once your parcel has been dispatched, you will receive a shipping confirmation email with a tracking number if you selected a delivery method that includes track & trace.
If the parcel tracking shows delay or if it appears lost, please contact our customer service at info@kudostu.com with your order number. We will liaise with the shipping carrier and update you on next steps. If the parcel is confirmed lost, we will work to find a solution (such as reshipment or refund) in line with our returns & refund policy.
Changing the delivery address is only possible if the parcel has not yet been dispatched. Please contact us immediately with your order number and the updated address. If the parcel is already in transit, we may not be able to modify the address.
Returns, Exchanges & Refunds
Yes, you may request a return. According to our policy, you must notify us within 14 days of receiving your goods that you wish to return them. After approval, you have a further 14 days to return the items. If more than 28 days from receipt have passed, we cannot guarantee acceptance of the return.
Products that are custom-ordered, cut lengths, or hygienically sealed items (if opened) may not be eligible for return. If you are unsure, please contact us before ordering.
After we receive your returned items and inspect them, your refund will be processed within a reasonable time (typically within a few business days). The refund method will be the same as the original payment. Please note that depending on your bank or payment provider, it may take additional days to show in your account.
Yes, you may request an exchange. If the desired item is in stock, we’ll arrange shipment of the new item once we receive the return (or arrange to send it simultaneously with your return, at our discretion). For any price difference (higher or lower), we will notify you accordingly.
Refunds are issued back to the original payment method. If that is not possible, we will contact you to agree an alternative. We will deduct applicable shipping, handling or restocking fees (if applicable) and will notify you of the final amount refunded.
Yarn Information & Materials
On each product page you will find detailed information about composition, yarn weight, gauge, length (metres per ball) and other relevant technical details. If you need further help, you may email us.
- “Superwash” means the wool has been treated (or blended) so that it can be machine washed without felting.
- “Öko-Tex” is a standard certification ensuring the fibre or dyeing meets certain environmental and safety criteria.
- “Dye lot” (or “colour lot”) specifies a batch number of the yarn. Yarns from different lots may have slight colour variation, so for a single project it’s best to use yarns from the same dye lot.
While you can, we recommend using the same dye lot (or mixing in a way that the difference isn’t noticeable) to ensure consistent colour throughout your project. If you need to use yarns from different lots, alternate skeins every other row (or every other ball) to blend the shade shift.
Care instructions depend on each yarn’s composition. Generally, most yarns will have wash instructions on the label (for example: hand-wash, cool/mild machine wash, do not bleach, dry flat). Please refer to the product page for each yarn, and follow the label instructions to ensure longevity of your finished piece.
Yarn weight refers to the thickness of the yarn and is matched to the type of project you intend. For example, sock yarns are fine (e.g., fingering weight), while felting wool is heavier and thicker. On each product page you’ll find the “weight class”, gauge (number of stitches per 10 cm/inch) and suggested needle/hook size to help you choose the correct yarn for your project. You can find more information from the artcle: Yarn Weight for Beginners: Understanding Yarn Weights, Yarn Thickness, and Needle Sizes
Projects, Usage & Guidance
The required amount depends on the size, yarn weight, and stitch pattern. Many product pages and pattern descriptions will suggest the quantity needed (e.g., number of balls). If you’re unsure, contact us with your project details (size, gauge, pattern) and we’ll help estimate.
Many of our yarns are suitable for children or sensitive skin — particularly those blended with cotton, bamboo, or marked “soft” or “hypoallergenic”. Always check the yarn label for composition and care instructions. If you have specific sensitivities, we recommend testing a small swatch or consulting us for guidance.
Colour-combination is a creative process. We suggest you:
- Choose one main colour and one or two accent colours to maintain harmony.
- Consider the yarn texture and weight—mixing very different weights may affect drape or look.
- Plan your project in advance (knit a swatch) to see how colours and textures interact.
We also can suggest colour-palettes and alternate yarns if needed — send us a message!
Depending on your project, you might need knitting needles or crochet hooks (sizes will depend on yarn weight and pattern gauge), stitch markers, tapestry needle for finishing, measuring tape, and possibly blocking tools. Our accessories section contains a wide selection to suit your needs.
Special Order Situations
If an item is marked as out of stock, you can either sign up for a back-in-stock notification, if that is available or contact us to check whether we can order more. We’ll let you know as soon as stock is available.
Yes. For large projects (such as multiple items or a design piece) we recommend ordering the full required quantity at once or reserving the dye lot. If you need a specific dye lot or quantity, contact us and we’ll check availability.
Please examine your parcel on arrival. If you find damage or defect, take photos and email us at info@kudostu.com as soon as possible with your order number and photos. We will handle the case according to our refund & returns policy.
In the unlikely event you receive a product that doesn’t match your order, please contact us immediately with your order number and a photo of the item. We will arrange the correct item to be sent or a refund as appropriate.
At the moment, our operations are focused online with dispatch from our Helsinki warehouse and local pickup is not possible.
International Customers
We currently deliver throughout Finland and the entire EU. For destinations outside the EU, please contact us for specific shipping terms, as customs, duties and delivery times may vary.
Yes, for deliveries outside the EU the recipient may be liable for customs fees, duties or local taxes. These are the responsibility of the recipient and vary by country. Please check with your local customs office.
Orders are dispatched within 48 hours from our warehouse in Helsinki (excluding weekends). Delivery time then depends on the destination country and carrier – EU orders often arrive within a few working days; non-EU destinations may take longer.
The recipient is responsible for any customs clearance, duties or taxes once the parcel reaches the destination country. We will provide whatever shipment documentation is required from our side.
Returns from outside Finland/EU follow the same process: you must notify us within 14 days of receipt, return the items within the next 14 days, and the parcel cost is typically borne by you. Refunds are issued upon receipt and inspection of the goods. Please note that you may be responsible for return shipping, customs clearance and any duties when sending back the parcel.
