Istex Hosuband – durable and warm Icelandic sock yarn
Hosuband is a very versatile sock yarn, which is perfect not only for socks but also for any warm and wearable knitwear. The surface of the thread reflects the nature of the north, i.e. it is slightly rough to the touch, but at the same time wonderfully soft.
Built to stand the test of time
Hosuband is a mixture of Icelandic wool and polyester. Icelandic wool brings you warmth in any weather, and polyester strengthens the yarn just enough to withstand wear and tear and your slightly tougher everyday chores.
The materials remind you of the rugged nature of the north. 80% Icelandic wool and 20% polyester. As a durable yarn made of Icelandic wool, this option guarantees you a restful night’s sleep and a clear conscience. You can try making Hosubandi into an embroidery that can withstand even more rough use.
Enjoy warmth, durability and comfort
Hosuband thread offers an incredible combination of warmth, durability and comfort to its wearer. Its unique blend of Icelandic wool and polyester makes the yarn breathable and durable, so you can enjoy the end result for a long time. You can proudly tell your friends and family that your sweater is made to withstand even the harshest conditions.
What can you knit with Hosuband?
The yarn has a thickness of 4 Medium (Worsted, Aran) and practically settles between Lettlopi and Alafosslopi. You knit the warmest woolen socks from Hosuband, with which you can defy any wind, frost or snow with a smile on your feet.
In addition to woolen socks, Hosuband is suitable for knitting sweaters, for example, especially if you know that the shirt is going to be used more violently than normal, for example by a child or a person who hustles around a lot outdoors in very variable conditions or in an environment where the clothes are required to be more durable than normal.
You can also knit a variety of accessories from this yarn, such as scarves, mittens, neckerchiefs and mittens.
Refreshing combination colors
You can find both one-color and two-color options in the yarn. The two-color options use mostly the same colors as the one-color ones. In this way, you can let your imagination run wild and combine one- and two-color yarns in your knitting, and you will conveniently get an ensemble that is always in harmony and just your look. The colors of the yarn are preserved well in the wash, which guarantees you a long-lasting sweater, also in terms of colors.
Hosubandi’s versatile color chart and the charm of its rustic texture make it a perfect choice for everyday accessories.
The yarn is suitable for both beginners and experts
It is easy for you to knit this rather thick yarn and your artwork is created quickly and pleasantly. The yarn is perfect for you in terms of knitting ability, whether you are a beginner or an experienced connoisseur.
For adult size 40 socks, you need two balls of yarn, the consumption is about 1.5 balls, i.e. 150g. Similarly, you make small socks for children from one ball.
Now you have the opportunity to dress in Icelandic wool from head to toe and surrender carelessly to the mercy of Nordic nature by knitting your next socks with Hosuband!

Washing and Care Instructions
Wash the sweater before use.
Use ventilation as primary treatment.
Hand wash in lukewarm, hand-warm, lukewarm water (40°C).
Use a mild detergent solution intended for wool as a detergent. First soak the knit approx. 10 minutes and then rinse thoroughly with plenty of lukewarm water. If you want, you can add a wool conditioner or a small drop of vinegar to the rinsing water at the end of the rinse to make the sweater softer.
After rinsing, gently squeeze most of the water out of the sweater without twisting it. Instead of spinning, you can squeeze out the rest of the water by putting the sweater inside a towel and thus squeezing the rest of the water out of the sweater.
Place the towel-dried sweater on a flat surface and carefully shape it to its dimensions.
Dry level. Do not hang the sweater to dry.
